Shobir reveals surprise: Salah was set to refuse national team call-up

Ahmed Shobair revealed that Egypt national team captain Mohamed Salah was considering withdrawing from the upcoming training camp. This camp is part of the preparations for the matches against Malawi in the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027.

Ahmed Shobeir stated during his radio program: "Could Mohamed Salah not come to the upcoming camp for the Egypt national team? Yes, indeed! And I tell you, Salah was not going to come to the upcoming camp, I swear by God, that was a possibility."

He added: "Hani Abou Rida intervened at the right time, and Ibrahim Hassan spoke at the right time, so that the story would be clear."

Shobeir concluded his statements by confirming that the crisis has ended, saying: "Has the matter ended? Absolutely, and it is closed with a lock and key."

In recent days, Hani Abou Rida has made a decisive move to end the disputes within the Egyptian national team. He traveled to Türkiye and met with the Pharaohs' captain, Mohamed Salah, after attending his match with Trabzonspor. This meeting successfully cleared the air and contained the previous crisis related to the coaching staff led by Hossam Hassan, resulting in convincing Salah to reconsider his stance and join the upcoming national team camp.
