Lajjoui reveals completion date for Hassan II Stadium ahead of FIFA World Cup 2030

Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, has revealed the expected completion date for the construction of the Hassan II Stadium, confirming that the work is progressing well and is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2028, well ahead of the start of the FIFA World Cup 2030.

Fouad Lajji has stated that the new stadium is one of the key sports projects Morocco is counting on in preparation for hosting the FIFA World Cup in partnership with Spain and Portugal, as part of a plan aimed at developing sports infrastructure and enhancing the kingdom's readiness to host the global event.

The project's importance, according to the university president, is not limited to constructing a stadium with modern specifications; it also includes the development of surrounding transport means by connecting it to a high-speed train network and regional fast trains, which will help facilitate access for fans and visitors and improve mobility during matches and major events.

The completion of the works is expected to allow the stadium to be used before the start of the FIFA World Cup in a suitable timeframe, whether for hosting matches of the Morocco national team or matches of the Casablanca giants, Raja and Wydad, in addition to hosting various major sporting events.

During a discussion about organizing the FIFA World Cup 2030, Lekjaa emphasized that Morocco's ambition goes beyond the sporting aspect, encompassing cultural and humanitarian dimensions, by enhancing cooperation among the three organizing countries and strengthening partnership and coexistence relations across the Mediterranean.

The Hassan II Stadium project is part of a series of initiatives aimed at modernizing Morocco's sports facilities and improving its transport network in preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2030, which represents an important milestone in the journey of Moroccan football.
