Ounahi faces absence until early next year after serious muscle injury
Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi is at risk of missing 15 matches with his team Panathinaikos, following an injury to the hamstring of his right thigh. According to Greek media reports, his return to the pitch could be delayed until the beginning of next year.
Greek newspaper Ta Nea has revealed that MRI tests confirmed Azzedine Ounahi has sustained a severe muscle tear in his hamstring, which will require a lengthy absence from competitions as he awaits a definitive return date.
According to the Greek site 'Green Corner', the Moroccan midfielder will miss 15 matches for his team during the period from October 22 to December 20, across the Greek league, the Greek cup, and the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Azzedine Ounahi is expected to miss matches against Kairat Almaty, Volos, Aris, AEK Athens, CSKA Sofia, Heracles, and OFI, as well as FC Nordsjaelland, Atromitos, Olympiacos, then Aris, Freiburg, PAOK, Brighton, and Heracles.
The repercussions of the injury do not only affect the player's journey with his team, as he is also at risk of missing Morocco's matches against Niger in November, as part of the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification 2027. This poses a potential blow to the national team's options, with a clearer picture expected to emerge based on the developments of his health condition and recovery program.
