French reports: Chinese football games remove Mbappé content
The fallout from French star Kylian Mbappé's comments regarding China has extended into the world of electronic football games, as FC ONLINE and the Chinese versions of PES announced measures to remove content related to the player.
According to the French website "Foot Mercato", FC ONLINE announced through a statement published on its official account on the WeChat platform that it is taking immediate steps to remove content related to Mbappé from its various external channels, confirming its rejection of any statements or behaviors that may offend the feelings of the Chinese people.
The statement indicated that the game will release an update including the planned changes, without revealing a specific date for its implementation yet.
Mbappé's cards have been removed from Chinese PES games.
In this context, the Chinese versions of PES, PES Online, and PES Mobile have decided to stop promoting Mbappé both in and out of the games, as well as removing characters and cards associated with him, with the indication that additional measures may be taken in the upcoming period.
PES has stated that sport transcends national borders, but respect must remain present, reflecting the implications of the controversy surrounding the French star's comments.
These developments come amid the widening crisis faced by Mbappé in China, which has extended to his business relationships and even affected electronic football games, adding further pressure on the Real Madrid player off the pitch.
