Barcelona announces the nature of Olmo's injury and the duration of his absence
FC Barcelona has announced the details of midfielder Dani Olmo's injury, which he sustained during the match against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League. The club confirmed that he will be out of action for nearly a month.
FC Barcelona stated in an official statement that the medical examinations undergone by Olmo confirmed his injury to the left adductor muscle, resulting from a collision with one of the players from the French team during the match that took place on Tuesday evening, which ended in a 4-2 defeat for the Catalan team.
Olmo was forced to leave the pitch during the first half after suffering a collision and feeling pain that prevented him from continuing to play, leading the coaching staff, led by German Hansi Flick, to decide to bring on Fermín López in his place.
The injury to Olmo is another blow for FC Barcelona at a crucial stage of the season, as the team relies on his abilities to create play and move between the opponent's lines, in addition to his attacking contributions in the final third of the pitch.
This injury comes at a difficult time for the Catalan team, which is preparing to face a series of important matches both domestically and in Europe, notably the clash against Real Madrid in the El Clásico, scheduled for Sunday, October 25, in LaLiga.
Based on the duration announced by the club, Olmo is expected to miss El Clásico, along with a number of subsequent matches, with his return to be determined according to the developments of the recovery process and his response to the treatment program.
Barcelona hopes to have the player back to full fitness as soon as possible, with the team needing his options in midfield. Meanwhile, Flick will have to look for suitable alternatives to compensate for his absence in the coming weeks.
