Sergen Yalçın appointed Turkey manager until 2030

The Turkish Football Federation has appointed Sergen Yalçın as the head coach of the national team, succeeding Italian Vincenzo Montella, on a contract that runs for four years until 2030.

Yalçın, 53, previously managed Beşiktaş, leading them to win the Turkish Cup and the Turkish league titles in the 2020-2021 season. He also represented the Turkish national team as a player during his professional career.

The appointment of Yalçın follows Montella's departure from his position after a series of negative results for the Turkish national team, according to reports regarding the reasons for the coaching change.

The new coach is preparing to start his mission with the Turkish national team, focusing on upcoming challenges, including international competitions and qualifiers for major tournaments, leading up to the FIFA World Cup 2030.
