Turkish coach Sergen Yalçın is close to taking over the Turkey national team, replacing Italian Vincenzo Montella, as he is just one step away from signing his contract with the Turkish Football Federation, according to circulating media reports.

According to reports, the anticipated contract will last for four years, until 2030, with Yalçın set to begin his role with his coaching staff in the near future, pending the completion and official announcement of the agreement.

The identity of the new Turkish national team coach is expected to be clarified following a meeting of the federation's board on Tuesday, October 20.

Sergen Yalçın has previously managed several Turkish clubs, most notably Beşiktaş, where he led them to win both the Turkish league and the Turkish Cup in the 2020-2021 season, achieving the domestic double. He also managed Gaziantep FK, Sivasspor, Kayserispor, Konyaspor, Alanyaspor, Yeni Malatyaspor, and Antalyaspor, before returning to Beşiktaş in the 2025-2026 season, where his tenure ended last May.
