Nasser Mansy breaks silence after being suspended from Zamalek training
Nasser Mansy, the Zamalek SC striker, has broken his silence following his suspension from training and referral for investigation after his actions during the match against Rwanda in the first leg of the CAF Champions League Round of 32.
Zamalek SC's management has decided to impose a hefty financial penalty on Nasser Mansy, in addition to suspending him from team training until the investigation is completed. This decision comes after his celebration sparked controversy following his winning goal for the team in the 1-0 match last Friday.
Nasser Mansy, 28 years old, came on as a substitute in the closing minutes of the match before scoring the winning goal in the dying moments. He then threw his shirt to the ground during the celebration, a gesture that prompted the club to take disciplinary action against him.
Zamalek SC have announced in an official statement that coach Mo'tamed Gamal has decided to refer the striker for investigation and to exclude him from team training until the procedures are completed. The player will undergo investigation after the team's return from Rwanda.
In his first comment on the incident, Nasser Mansy clarified, through a statement posted on his Instagram account, that his behavior was a result of a moment of excitement and the pressures he has faced recently, noting that the pressures accompanying matches can sometimes lead to situations of this kind.
Zamalek SC's striker has reiterated his apology to the club's fans, management, and coaching staff led by Moataz Gamal, expressing hope for improvement in the upcoming phase.
This crisis comes at a time when Nasser Mansy has not had significant participation with Zamalek SC during the current season, having played 248 minutes spread over seven matches in various competitions, during which he scored two goals.
