Kitara striker: There is still the return match and we will fight for victory
Wahab Ajuoman, the striker for Kitara, stated that his team has not lost hope in continuing their journey in the CAF Confederation Cup, affirming that they will fight for victory in the return match against Al Ahly FC.
Al Ahly FC secured a victory against Ugandan side Kitarra with a score of 2-1 in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup Round of 32.
Kitara's striker spoke about his team's performance during the first match, in statements reported by the Ugandan newspaper "Monitor", confirming that the players appeared well despite not managing to secure a positive result.
Ajouman said: "No one expected us to perform like this against Al Ahly FC. I believe we gave our best effort, but it wasn't enough."
He added: "Perhaps things did not go as we planned, but there is still the return match, and we have 90 more minutes to fight for the win."
In discussing attacking harmony, the Ugandan player pointed out that the diversity in the characteristics and playing style of the forwards represents a tactical advantage for the team, as it provides the coaching staff with multiple options and greater flexibility to implement their attacking plans on the pitch.
Ajumaan highlighted his good understanding of how to move and handle the flow of play when partnering with Kadu, given the understanding between them, which could represent one of the weapons the team relies on during the return match.
The Ugandan team's striker expressed his great appreciation for goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, confirming that he has an outstanding career that places the Al Ahly FC captain among the elite and the best footballing talents across the entire African continent.
Kitara striker said: "I have known El Shenawy for a long time and have watched him many times before, and he is one of the best players in Africa."
Ajumaan explained that the first leg helped his players better understand the capabilities of Al Ahly FC's players, as they had a direct experience against them. He expressed hope to benefit from this knowledge during the upcoming match.
