FC Barcelona targets Matheus Nunes as Jorge Mendes proposes deal
FC Barcelona are looking to strengthen the right-back position in the upcoming period, with the name of Portuguese Matheus Nunes, a player for Manchester City, emerging among the options on the table for the Catalan club's management, according to the Spanish newspaper "El Nacional".
According to the report, Jorge Mendes, the player's agent, has suggested the possibility of Matheus Nunes moving to FC Barcelona, leveraging his strong relationship with club president Juan Laporta and sporting director Deco, as the team seeks solutions to strengthen the right flank.
FC Barcelona's interest in Portuguese player Matheus Nunes comes as part of their desire to sign a specialist right-back, allowing Eric Garcia to return to the centre-back position. This makes Nunes one of the names being considered to strengthen the squad in the upcoming phase.
Matheus Nunes is under contract with Manchester City until June 2028, but the report did not reveal any official offer from FC Barcelona or advanced negotiations between the two clubs, leaving the possibility of the player's transfer to the Catalan team merely an option at this stage.
