Manchester City aim to bounce back from their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain as they host AEK Athens in the third round of the UEFA Champions League. The English side is looking to regain their positive results.

This is the first match between the two teams, but Manchester City have a positive record against Greek clubs, having not lost in four previous encounters, achieving three wins and one draw, while keeping a clean sheet in all matches. In contrast, AEK Athens have lost seven of their last eight matches against English clubs, with just one win.

Manchester City finished last season's league phase in eighth place, before being eliminated from the competition by Real Madrid in the Round of 16 for the third consecutive year. They also lost to Paris Saint-Germain by four goals to two in the second round this season.

Manchester City rely on the brilliance of Erling Haaland, who scored two goals against Paris Saint-Germain, raising his tally to 61 goals in 60 matches in the UEFA Champions League, including four goals in the current edition. The Norwegian striker has reached 38 goals with Manchester City in the competition, becoming the club's all-time top scorer in it, and he has found the net in his last three matches in the tournament.

On the other hand, AEK Athens lost to Shakhtar 3-1 in the second round, having started their campaign with a 1-0 victory over LASK. The Greek team has not achieved any away victories in the UEFA Champions League, recording five draws and 11 losses, while securing only three wins in 32 matches in the competition, from the group stage to the final, according to UEFA statistics.
