Alonso: We delivered a mature performance against Everton, and this is what we need

Xabi Alonso, Chelsea's manager, expressed his happiness at the victory over Everton by two goals to nil, confirming his satisfaction with his team's performance and discipline during the match, as well as his relief at keeping a clean sheet for the first time this season.

Alonso said: "I am very happy with the result and the performance; we needed one of these away victories, where we showed a professional and serious performance, and we appeared cohesive."

He added: "It seemed that we were in control of the match, there were moments when we definitely had to defend, but the team overall appeared mature, knowing what to do at every moment, and realizing that their opportunity would come."

He continued: "That opportunity came in the second half, and after that we delivered a good performance with the ball, created chances, and did not allow the opponent much. Winning away from home is always difficult, and finally, we succeeded in keeping a clean sheet."

The coach stated: "We must continue to work, as this is just one match. If we keep a clean sheet in only one match, that would be very bad, because we need to achieve that many more times."

He explained: "Certainly, the feeling of keeping a clean sheet for the first time this season is good; we must continue to progress, work hard, and maintain seriousness."
