Maher Gharib: Zamalek will not withdraw from the league
Maher Gharib, the media director of Zamalek SC, revealed the club's stance on withdrawing from the Premier League following the refereeing crisis in the derby match against Al Ahly FC.
Maher Gharib stated in comments made on Al-Nahar channel: "I am the one who wrote the statements of Zamalek SC after the Cairo derby, and I take responsibility for what was included in them, in coordination with the club's board of directors, which is well aware of every word written. The statements were based on facts and were not an expression of personal opinion from any board member."
Zamalek SC has sent an official letter to the Football Association yesterday, Wednesday, requesting to listen to the VAR conversations from the recent match, while confirming the 48-hour deadline that is still in effect since the letter was sent. This is a legitimate right for the club.
The Director of Media at Zamalek SC stated: "The club is adamant about its position, especially after listening to the opinions of many refereeing experts who supported its stance. We have all the evidence that supports our viewpoint, particularly regarding the actions of Marwan Ateya and Chico Banza."
He explained: "In the game between Chico Banza and Achraf Dari, there were three fouls by the Al Ahly FC defender, and we stand by our opinion on this game."
The media director of Zamalek SC concluded his statements by discussing the club's position on withdrawal, stating: "Zamalek will not withdraw from the league, and the disagreement has not reached the stage of withdrawing from the competition, but we are firm in our viewpoint regarding what happened in the derby match."
