Vinicius: I am sure I will return, and I did not understand the reason for this
Brazilian Vinicius Junior, star of Real Madrid, has broken his silence following his four-match suspension in LaLiga, expressing his anger at the timing of the announcement of the punishment, and affirming his confidence in his ability to regain his best form and return strongly in the near future.
Vinicius Junior said in statements in the mixed zone after the match against AS Roma: "I have always been calm, my body gets hit a lot, and in the end, the card is always mine."
The Brazilian star added, criticizing the timing of the suspension announcement: "They had the entire day to announce the ban, but they waited until I arrived at the stadium, then informed me that I would miss four matches in LaLiga. I don't understand the reason."
He continued: "The rule is new, and no one has explained it to us. There is always someone from the league or another body related to refereeing who comes to explain the new rules, but this specific rule was not communicated to us. In the end, the red card is for me, and it's very easy, because fans of other teams can say that the decision was correct."
Vinicius Junior has emphasized that he never intended to harm any player, stating: "I have never committed any violent act towards another player. I have always kept my cool, and despite being hit many times, the card is always shown to me."
Regarding his anger after being substituted during the match against AS Roma, he explained: "It is natural for me to feel angry when I am substituted, because I always want to play the full match and help the team, but that was not possible today. In the end, the changes helped us and turned the course of the match."
Vinicius praised Endrick, who came on as a substitute and made an impactful performance, saying: "Endrick came on brilliantly and changed the dynamic of the match, and he scored the goal. He was the best player in the second half, and we hope he continues to develop to help the team, alongside other players like Carlos, who doesn't usually get many minutes."
The Brazilian star spoke candidly about his dip in form, expressing more anger at himself than concern. He said: "I’m not saying I’m worried, but I’m angry with myself because I’m not delivering my best version. I joined this club at a young age, when I was 18, and I have always defended this club and this team. In the end, Vinicius always comes back, I am confident that I will return, and I will help the club reach the status it deserves."
Regarding the boos he received from Real Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabéu, Vinicius said: "Surely the boos won't help me, but the fans pay for their tickets and have the right to express what they want. However, it is better that they support us, as we play better when the fans are on our side."
"I and Kylian Mbappé, along with Bellingham, if we are in sync together, we will win. But the fans have every right to express their opinion. I think booing me is easier for them because I have been here longer and I am one of the team leaders, but I prefer them to boo me rather than direct it at one of our young players."
Vinicius Junior concluded his statements by affirming his confidence in overcoming this difficult phase, saying: "I am sure that I will return. When I was 18 years old, many mocked me and said that I would not score goals, and today I have scored more than 100 goals in this shirt and achieved many titles. It is a tough time for me, but I must keep working, and things will return to normal."
