Valverde: We didn't apply what we worked on, and I'm happy for Endrick
Federico Valverde, a player for Real Madrid, confirmed the difficulty of the encounter against AS Roma, despite the royal team managing to secure a victory with a score of 4-3 in the second round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Federico Valverde analysed the match, stating: "It was a difficult game, and the first half saw a balance between the two teams. They found opportunities early on, and we couldn't grasp the flow of the match as we needed to. We worked on a lot of things, but we didn't succeed in applying them, before we managed, thanks to our fighting spirit, to implement what we had trained on and find one-on-one situations in the front line."
Regarding Real Madrid's delayed comeback in the score, he explained: "I am proud to have this fighting spirit, but if we had executed what was required earlier, we would have enjoyed the match more. Things became difficult due to our mistakes, and every player who came on as a substitute entered with great enthusiasm and desire."
Federico Valverde praised Endrick, who won the Man of the Match award, saying: "I am happy for him to receive the best player award. The coach said he needs all the players, and he praised every player who does not get many minutes, and today the match proved that right."
A Real Madrid player spoke about his participation in the right wing position, confirming his happiness to get playing minutes in any role. He said: "The most important thing is to win, as the coach said. If things go well, we need to keep progressing. I am happy to get playing minutes, wherever my position is. I really enjoyed running on the wing today, and I am grateful for the coach's trust in me, no matter what position I play."
