Hützel is the leading candidate to succeed Carrick at Manchester United if he departs
Fabian Hutzel, Brighton's manager, is the leading candidate to succeed Michael Carrick at Manchester United if the management decides to sack their current coach.
The Sun reported that Manchester United still backs Carrick despite achieving two wins and suffering four defeats in nine matches this season, but he remains a candidate to be the first manager in the Premier League to be sacked this season.
Hodgson has secured four wins in six encounters against Manchester United since taking charge of Brighton in 2024, but he renewed his contract with the club for three years last June, which could make hiring him costly.
Antonio Conte is another option, alongside Eddie Howe, that Manchester United have previously monitored. The matter of changing the manager remains complicated given the club's ambition to win the Premier League in 2028.
