Al-Ahli's Asian hat-trick faces Abu Al-Shamat injury nightmare
Al-Ahli have received a worrying blow during their victory over Al-Wasl, winning three goals to one, as Saleh Abu Al-Shamat suffered a serious shoulder injury during the match in the AFC Champions League Elite.
The injury occurred in the 75th minute, when Saleh Abu Al-Shamat rushed to catch up with one of the players from Al-Wasl, before falling down in pain and holding his right shoulder. The medical staff intervened quickly and decided to substitute him for fear of aggravating the injury.
Marino Bosić was forced to make an emergency substitution, bringing on Mohammed Sulaiman for Abu Al-Shamat, who left the pitch after an injury that raised concerns within the Jeddah team.
Al-Ahli asserted their superiority in the match held on Monday evening at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai, during the second round of the Western Region league for the 2026-2027 season, scoring through Roger Ibanez, Francisco Trincão, and Feras Al-Buraikan.
Al-Ahli's victory has temporarily placed them at the top of the table, ahead of Al-Qadisiyah on goal difference, while Al-Wasl remains in fourteenth place without any points after suffering their second defeat in the tournament.
