Discover details of Al Zawraa and Qatar's clash in the Gulf Club Champions League

Iraqi and Gulf football fans will turn their attention tomorrow evening, Tuesday, October 13, 2026, to the Qatari capital Doha, where Al Zawraa will kick off their regional participation against Qatari club Qatar.

The anticipated clash comes in the first round of the group stage of the Gulf Club Champions League, in a version that sees the return of spirit and fierce competition among the most prestigious Gulf clubs.

The match will kick off at 5:45 PM Baghdad and Mecca time, on the pitch of the Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium at Qatar SC, in a clash that carries a decisive character for the Iraqi team.

Al Zawraa (the Leader) enters this Gulf Club Champions League event while going through a very tough time on the local front; the team comes off a heavy and resounding defeat in the last round against Duhok with a score of 3-0 in the Iraq Stars League.

That defeat did not go unnoticed; it opened the gates of hell to sharp criticism from fans and media directed at the coaching system and players due to the lackluster performance and absence of a clear artistic identity on the pitch.

Al Zawraa view the Doha match as the perfect "lifeline" and a unique opportunity to achieve two goals at once: first, to heal local wounds despite their prominence and reconcile with the angry supporters, and second, to secure a positive result at the start of the Gulf Club Champions League campaign that will provide the team with the necessary morale boost to soar again.

Al Zawraa fully understands that the task will not be a walk in the park, but rather extremely difficult due to the significant and clear disparities in financial and technical capabilities between the two teams.

Qatar SC is armed with a wealth of high-caliber professional players, and it boasts high physical readiness and administrative stability despite a coaching change. Additionally, they will play the match at home in front of their fans.

These factors compel the champion of Iraq to play with complete realism and rely on strict defensive organization and high fighting spirit to narrow these gaps on the pitch.
