Officially.. Ahmad Basel to miss match against Qatar SC

The coaching staff of Al Zawraa has received a strong and confusing shock to their plans just hours before the anticipated regional battle, as reliable sources confirmed the absence of international goalkeeper Ahmad Basel from the match that will see his team face off against their hosts, Qatar SC.

The big clash is set to take place tomorrow evening, Tuesday, in the Gulf Club Champions League. It holds great importance for the Iraqi team looking to launch a strong start on the international stage.

The anticipated Gulf clash will take place at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium (Qatar SC) in the Qatari capital Doha, with widespread anticipation from the Iraqi community in Qatar to support Al Zawraa.

The absence of Ahmed Basel is a severe blow to Al Zawraa's defense, as the goalkeeper is considered one of the key rock-solid pillars that the club relies on to maintain defensive balance.

Basal, despite the heavy shock and the harsh and surprising loss that Al Zawraa suffered in the last round of the Iraq Stars League against Duhok by a score of 3-0, has continued to provide outstanding technical levels, saving the team's goal from several certain and multiplied goals on many occasions, which places his substitute in a complex responsibility to fill this leadership void inside the box.

Al Zawraa enter the match with a primary goal of "healing local wounds"; the three-goal loss to Duhok has led to severe criticism directed at coach Basim Qasim and the players. The Gulf Club Champions League has become the ideal lifeline to regain confidence and reconcile with the angry white fans.

The absence of first-choice goalkeeper Basel will force the coaching staff to redraw the defensive strategy and focus on imposing strict surveillance to prevent Qatar SC's attackers from testing the substitute goalkeeper early.
