Moataz Gamal: We deserved two penalties against Al Ahly

Moataz Gamal, the coach of Zamalek SC, confirmed that his team lost the Cairo derby against Al Ahly FC due to simple mistakes, pointing out that the white team deserved two penalty kicks in the match.

The Cairo derby between Al Ahly FC and Zamalek SC, held this evening on Sunday in the 6th round of the Egyptian League, concluded with a 2-0 victory for the Reds.

Ma'tamid Jamal stated in the press conference: "We were not fortunate in the first half and conceded a goal from a ball that deflected off one of the players and changed direction. We tried to come out with a draw in the first half, but that did not happen. We were better in the second half, but we did not convert the chances we had to score and conceded the second goal. We will close the match file and start focusing on an important encounter against the Rwandan Army in the CAF Champions League."

Mo'tamed Gamal stated: "I had to change the way we play due to absences, injuries, and Oday Dabbagh's illness upon his return, in addition to Adam Kaied's injury during warm-ups before the match. At the very least, Zamalek SC deserved two penalties in today's match against Al Ahly FC, and all the players gave their best effort in the game. We must forget this match to focus on the upcoming one in the CAF Champions League. We are used to difficult circumstances and look forward to achieving a positive result in the first leg against the Rwandan army."

The manager continued: "We conceded two goals in today's match due to simple mistakes, and we will work on correcting them to avoid repeating them. I started Ahmed Sherif in today's match because of the player's speed and the threat that Zamalek posed in the first half thanks to Ahmed Sherif's runs."

The coach concluded by saying: "I apologize to the Zamalek fans, and I wished to make them happy in today's match and achieve victory."
