Xavi Simons joins course at Harvard during recovery from injury
Xavi Simons, the Tottenham player, has taken advantage of his time off the pitch due to injury to enroll in a course at Harvard University, in a move aimed at enhancing his knowledge in the field of business, while continuing his recovery journey and return to football.
Xavi Simons has been sidelined since April due to an anterior cruciate ligament tear, which also ruled him out of the FIFA World Cup with the Netherlands. The 23-year-old player has decided to use his recovery period to participate in the "Crossover Into Business" program at Harvard Business School, aimed at professional athletes looking to develop their business and management skills.
Xavi Simons announced his enrollment in a program via his LinkedIn account, stating: "Returning to study." The player explained in his message that he aims to make the most of his time away from the pitch, affirming: "Football is still my main goal, but I also want to continue learning and developing away from the field."
He added: "I have always been interested in matters beyond football. I want to understand the business side of the game better, learn from people working in different sectors, and continue to develop myself personally." He noted that he spent the last few weeks traveling between the East Coast and the West Coast of the United States, where he met new people and learned about different working methods.
Tottenham player has stressed that returning to the pitch remains his top priority, stating: "At the same time, I want to take advantage of this period to continue learning and investing in myself outside of football. I look forward to starting the program."
Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga previously joined a short program at Harvard last June, focusing on business in the fields of entertainment, media, and sports, as part of a trend among some football players to develop their knowledge and professional paths outside the pitch.
