Ivory Coast's Serge Aurier has issued a sarcastic apology to his former coach Lorran Blanc, ten years after a controversial incident at Paris Saint-Germain, when the former defender insulted his coach during a live broadcast on the "Periscope" app in February 2016.

This came during Serge Aurier's appearance on the show "Detective Matou" on the French channel "Canal+", where he revisited the incident that occurred on February 13, 2016, when he referred to Laurent Blanc with an insulting term and questioned his character and ability to assert his authority in the team's dressing room, in comments that spread widely and angered the club and its fans.

In a humorous segment of the show, Aurier read an apology message prepared by the production team, in which he said: "Dear coach, if you knew how much I regret it." He added: "Ten years have passed, and I still think about you constantly. I didn't mean any word of what I said. Let's talk about it over a cup of coffee; I invite you and insist on it. Please, coach, forgive me." Aurier appeared with red eyes in a comedic scene where the show used onions to add a theatrical touch to the apology.

Laurent Blanc expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the incident in the days that followed, emphasizing that he took the insults seriously, especially since he had made efforts to bring Aurier to Paris Saint-Germain. Following the incident, the club punished the Ivorian defender by banning him from participating in the match against Chelsea in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 in February 2016.
