Guardiola prepares to return to the Etihad Stadium to support Manchester City against Paris Saint-Germain
Pep Guardiola is expected to attend Manchester City's match against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 14, marking his first return to the Etihad Stadium since leaving the club last summer.
Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City at the end of the 2025-2026 season, after nearly a decade at the helm of the coaching staff, with Enzo Maresca set to take over as head coach. The Spanish coach is expected to watch the match against Paris Saint-Germain from the stands at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola remains linked to the City Football Group in the role of global ambassador, having announced his support for the club last week following the independent committee's decision to find Manchester City guilty of breaching Premier League regulations in a case involving inflated revenues and cost-cutting of over £900 million.
Pep Guardiola has reaffirmed his commitment to the club, sending a message to the fans in which he said: "I am here, more than ever."
Paris Saint-Germain will be facing Manchester City in their first match at home since the ruling, and it will be the team's second match following the verdict, after facing Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The Athletic reports that Guardiola's presence could give City fans an extra boost, especially considering the expected atmosphere around the club. The Spanish manager is expected to appear alongside chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, with several figures associated with his era at the club also anticipated to attend.
During his time at Manchester City, Guardiola led the team to six titles in the Premier League, three titles in the FA Cup, five titles in the EFL Cup, alongside the UEFA Champions League in 2023, becoming one of the most prominent managers in the club's and the Premier League's history.
