Borussia Dortmund continue their interest in Polish player Marcel Reguła, despite failing to secure his transfer during the final hours of the summer transfer window.

According to "Ruhr Nachrichten", Borussia Dortmund are planning another attempt to sign the 19-year-old player during the upcoming winter transfer window.

Regula was very close to moving to Borussia Dortmund on the last day of the transfer window, having reached an agreement between the parties. However, the German club changed its plan at the last moment and opted to sign Ethan Nwaneri from Arsenal on loan to cover for absences in the attacking line.

Borussia Dortmund are renewing their interest in Brijula as they seek more options on the flanks, with the Polish player possessing tactical versatility that allows him to play as a playmaker, on the wings, or as a second striker. Club officials believe that this ability to occupy multiple positions makes him a suitable option to strengthen the team during the second half of the season.

Regula remains under contract with Zagłębie Lubin until 2028, meaning Borussia Dortmund will need to negotiate the deal's value again. Previous reports indicated that the deal, which stalled in the summer, would have included around €5.5 million as a fixed fee, along with €2.5 million in incentives and a percentage of the resale, while the winter demands could reach a high single-digit million figure.

This comes amid ongoing uncertainty regarding some options on the flanks, especially after Julian Ryerson's injury during the international break. With Borussia Dortmund needing additional solutions in these positions, Regula remains among the names the club is considering ahead of the winter transfer window.
