Real Madrid monitoring Jirel Kwanzaa after Arsenal's rejected bid

English defender Jirel Kwanzaa is attracting interest from Real Madrid, according to German newspaper "Bild", due to the impressive performances he has delivered since moving to the Bundesliga.

According to the report, Real Madrid are monitoring the 23-year-old in preparation for a possible move to sign him next summer, especially as the Spanish club seeks to strengthen its defensive options. Konsa joined Bayer 04 Leverkusen from Liverpool in the summer of 2025 for around £30 million.

Bild also revealed that Arsenal made a £55 million offer to sign Kwansa last summer, but it was rejected, before the London club turned to signing Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa.

Liverpool hold a significant advantage regarding Konsa's future, with a buy-back clause in his transfer to Bayer 04 Leverkusen worth £59.5 million. The English club can activate this clause until June 2027. Konsa progressed through Liverpool's academy and made 58 appearances for the first team, scoring three goals, before moving to Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Ezri Konsa excels in the center-back and right-back positions, having participated in seven international matches for England. He played the full match against Spain in the UEFA Nations League last week, before remaining on the bench during the victory over the Czech Republic, which ended with a two-goal win.
