The court sets date for Senegal's appeal against CAF and Morocco

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has set October 8, 2026, to hear the appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation against both the Confederation of African Football and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation regarding the events of the Africa Cup of Nations final.

The court announced, in a media statement directed to the press, that the hearing will be held in person at its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, after consulting with all parties involved.

KAS has clarified that the session will be held behind closed doors, as no party has requested it to be public, and therefore, the media will not be allowed to attend the proceedings.

The session is set to begin at 9:30 AM Swiss time, with the arbitration panel entering the deliberation phase after the hearing session in the afternoon.

The court emphasized that it is currently impossible to set a date for the final decision in the case, confirming that the ruling will not be issued on the day of the session.

Representatives from the Senegalese and Moroccan federations are expected to attend the CAS headquarters in Lausanne in person, while the presence of the Africa Cup of Nations will be limited to its legal defense team.

The arbitration panel tasked with reviewing the case consists of Gérald Simon from France as the president, Luighi Fomatgali from Italy as a member, alongside Dr. Ulrich Haas from Germany as a member.

The concerned parties have agreed to adopt French as the official language for legal proceedings related to the appeal.

Regarding media coverage, the Court of Arbitration for Sport has invited journalists wishing to follow the case from outside its premises to contact the press department via the designated email, with the necessity of attaching a valid press card. It confirmed that all official developments related to the case will be published in due course on its website.
