Trubin: We cannot ignore the bombs and missiles

Anatoliy Trubin, the goalkeeper for SL Benfica and the Ukraine national team, has confirmed that football cannot be separated from what is happening in his country due to the ongoing war with Russia. He emphasized that the national team players feel a greater sense of responsibility and pressure to try to give their people some moments of joy.

Anatoliy Trubin spoke during the Ukrainian national team's camp ahead of their match against Hungary in the UEFA Nations League in the capital Budapest: "Playing for the national team is a great honor for everyone, and given the current situation, it is even more important. We feel greater pressure, as there are many people watching our matches, praying and believing in our victory. It is an opportunity to give them some joy and positive emotions during the 90 minutes of the game."

Benfica goalkeeper added: "We cannot ignore the fact that air raid sirens are constantly sounding in Ukraine, and that bombs and missiles are flying through the skies. It is impossible to separate what is happening in our country from sport. Everything is interconnected."

Anatoliy Trubin also addressed the possibility of facing the Russia national team, emphasizing his refusal to play such a match. He said: "It is impossible to allow Russia to play against us. I cannot imagine us playing against them, or them playing against some teams, against us. This is impossible."
