Hungarian foreign minister intervenes after Liverpool player listed as "Enemies of Ukraine"

The case of Hungarian Milos Kerkez, Liverpool defender, has taken a political turn after being listed as one of the 'enemies of Ukraine' following a dispute that occurred after the match between Hungary and Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League.

Reports have indicated that the Ukrainian site "Mirotvorets", which publishes data on individuals described by Ukrainian authorities as hostile to Ukraine or pro-Russia, has added Kirykez to its list following the events that occurred during the match. The player's father was also included on the list after posting a clip of the altercation on his Instagram account, accompanied by a Russian song.

Hungary's Foreign Minister Anita Orbán has intervened in the matter, condemning what she described as 'stigma, name-calling, and threats', emphasizing that she is in continuous contact with the Ukrainian government to contain the crisis. The Hungarian Football Federation, the embassy, and other colleagues are also involved in efforts to address the issue within each party's jurisdiction.

For his part, Kirkiz categorically denied supporting any form of aggression, asserting that he cannot be held responsible for his father's actions. He stated: "I have never supported any form of aggression in my life, I do not support it now, and I am not someone who sees anything that causes harm to others as acceptable."

Liverpool defender added: "There is always tension in football matches, and during the match against Ukraine, I was simply defending our captain and my friend, and I would have done the same regardless of the country we were facing. It is important to emphasize that my father is not me, and I cannot be held responsible for his actions, whatever they may be."
