Leny Yoro joins France squad to replace injured Konaté

France have called up defender Leny Yoro, a Manchester United player, to join the senior team for the first time in his career, replacing Ibrahima Konaté who is confirmed to be absent due to injury.

Ibrahima Konaté felt pain in his knee during training, and MRI scans revealed a minor sprain in his right knee. He has left the national team camp and returned to his club, Real Madrid, meaning he will miss the match against France and Türkiye scheduled for Friday evening in the UEFA Nations League.

Yoro, 20, has been at Clairefontaine with the France U21 team before receiving a call-up from coach Zinedine Zidane to join the senior national team, where he will travel with his teammates to Türkiye in the coming hours.

Leny Yoro is the seventh new player called up by Zidane to the France national team during the current international break, following the previous call-ups of Guillaume Rest, Jérémy Gakia, Andy Diouf, Lucas Da Cunha, Esteban Lepaul, and Jean Butez, who replaced the injured Ruben Reiser.

Leny Yoro joined Manchester United in the summer of 2024 from Lille for €62 million, and he missed about four months during his first season with the team due to an ankle injury. During the 2025-2026 season, he participated in 33 matches, before his appearances decreased in the final phase of the season. He also started the current season as a starter against Sabah of Azerbaijan in the UEFA Champions League, but he only played limited minutes in the Premier League during the first five rounds.
