Aubameyang strikes Deportivo hard and undergoes knee surgery

Deportivo La Coruña have suffered a major blow with the confirmation of Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's injury to the meniscus in his right knee, which will require him to undergo surgery.

Aubameyang, 37, has been one of the standout stars of Deportivo's start in La Liga, having scored in 5 consecutive matches, along with providing 2 assists during the 7 matches the team has played so far.

The Gabonese forward suffered an injury during the match against Real Betis last round, before undergoing MRI scans on Monday. He then traveled to Madrid today for further examinations to determine the severity of the injury with specialist doctor Manuel Lis.

Tests have confirmed that Aubameyang requires surgery, which is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, with him expected to leave the hospital the same day. Although Deportivo has not specified a return date, estimates suggest he will be sidelined for around two months.

The team's struggles deepen as Marc Casado, a player on loan from FC Barcelona to Deportivo, suffered an injury during the match and had to undergo surgery due to a broken collarbone.
