Real Madrid tightens grip and Barcelona closes in: LaLiga reveals salary cap

LaLiga has announced the cost limits for club squads for the 2026-27 season, following the closure of the summer transfer window. The figures are substantial, with Real Madrid at the forefront, and a significant jump in the cap permitted for FC Barcelona.

Real Madrid has maintained its position at the top of the list, as its salary cap has risen from €761 million to €832 million, making this figure the highest in the history of the royal club and also in the history of LaLiga.

On the other hand, Barcelona has made a significant leap, as their squad cost has risen from €432 million to €582 million, following the club's return to operating under the 1:1 rule, thereby reducing the financial constraints they faced in the past.

Despite FC Barcelona's significant increase in their budget, they still trail Real Madrid by a gap of 250 million euros, highlighting the financial disparity between the two giants of Spanish football at present.

It is worth noting that these figures do not represent the actual salaries paid by clubs to their players, but rather indicate the maximum cost of the squad that LaLiga allows each club, based on financial factors including revenues, expenses, debts, and various financial obligations.
