Andreas Christensen, defender of FC Barcelona, faces a lengthy absence due to the muscle injury he sustained during the match against Sevilla, amid fears that his absence could extend to two months.

FC Barcelona has announced that Christensen is suffering from a muscle injury in the left quadriceps rectus femoris, with no specified duration of absence. According to the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", some estimates have suggested that he could be out for between four and six weeks, but sources close to the player fear that the absence could extend to two months.

The current international break is helping Hans Flick, especially with limited options in central defense, as he can rely on Pau Koubarsi and Gérard Martin, alongside Erik Garcia and Jules Koundé.

Flick also has other options in the back line, with the possibility of relying on Chavi Espart and João Cancelo in the full-back positions, and Alejandro Balde, while he can repurpose Brian Fariñas on the right side.

Barcelona's clash with Villarreal could be a potential target for Christensen's return, but there is a need not to rush his recovery.

During his absence, the Danish defender will be sidelined for eight matches, consisting of five fixtures in LaLiga and three in the UEFA Champions League.
