Alidu Seidu joins Nice on loan

Nice have announced the signing of Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu on loan from Rennes for one season. This move is part of the "joker" system implemented in Ligue 1.

Nice have strengthened their defensive line with the signing of Alidu Seidu following serious injuries to both Antoine Mendy and Moïse Bombito. Seidu is 26 years old and has 25 international caps for Ghana, along with significant experience in Ligue 1, having played 106 matches for Clermont and Rennes.

Seidu said after joining Nice: "I was already in talks with the club during the summer. In the end, I arrived a bit late, but with a very strong motivation. I want to play, to be on the pitch, and to help the team and the club. I can't wait to start working, and I will give everything I have so that we have a great season together and make the fans proud of us."

For his part, Maurice Cohen, the president of Nice, said: "Alidu Seidu is a very good player with a great mentality. We are confident that he will adapt quickly and that he fits perfectly with what the coach wants to implement. He is at the best stage of his career, and I believe his style will impress the fans."

Sporting director Roger Ricourt added: "Alidu is capable of playing at centre-back as well as on one of the flanks, which gives us additional options at the back. He has participated in two World Cups, in 2022 and 2026, and he comes here to regain his form. He is a calm and self-confident person, and he takes responsibility. His proficiency in French will also help him integrate quickly with the group, and he will soon be able to convey his enthusiasm and determination to the team."
