Al Zawraa secured an important victory against their guests Al-Gharafa with a score of 2-0 in the match that brought the two teams together this evening at Al Zawraa Stadium, as part of the Iraqi Premier League, for the eighth round, temporarily taking the top spot.

Al Zawraa started the match strongly, scoring early in the 2nd minute, when Hassan Abdul Karim executed a stunning free kick. The goalkeeper Hussein Ali Joli saved it, but the ball rebounded to Mohammed Qassim, who put it in the net, announcing Al Zawraa's early lead and igniting the fans' enthusiasm.

After Al Zawraa's goal, Al-Gharafa fought back and applied intense pressure on Al Zawraa's goal, missing several dangerous attempts that could have given them an equaliser. The most dangerous of these came in the 17th minute when Hussein Ali scored for Al-Gharafa, but the referee ruled the goal out for offside, allowing Al Zawraa to breathe a sigh of relief.

Al Zawraa regained their composure and took control of the match, organizing their ranks better and managing to extend their lead.

Hiran Ahmed scored the second goal for Al Zawraa in the 28th minute, giving the advantage back to the team and confirming his side's superiority, as the first half ended with Al Zawraa leading by two goals to nil.

In the second half, the pace dropped slightly between the two sides, and the play was concentrated in midfield with a clear advantage for Al Zawraa, who controlled the flow of the game without creating significant danger. Meanwhile, Al-Karma tried to reduce the deficit but to no avail.

Al Zawraa managed the match effectively while maintaining the score, making some substitutions to keep the players fit for upcoming matches, while Al-Gharafa failed to break through the Al-Nawras defense.

With this victory, Al Zawraa has raised its tally to 18 points, temporarily sitting in first place as it awaits the match between Al-Karma and Zakho, confirming that it is coming in strong to compete for the league title this season.

Al Gharafa remain stuck on 5 points in 19th place and continue to struggle this season, as the team suffers from poor results and has become one of the main candidates for relegation if their form does not improve in the coming rounds.
