Hossam Hassan announces Egypt squad ahead of Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers
The Egypt national football team, led by Hossam Hassan, has announced its squad in preparation for the matches against Angola and South Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for 2027.
The national team's agenda includes a match against Angola on September 25, followed by South Sudan on the 29th, as part of the first two rounds. Additionally, they will play a friendly against South Africa on October 4.
Mustafa Shobeir, El Mahdi Soliman, Mohamed Alaa, and Abdelaziz Belahouti have been included in the squad in preparation for upcoming international commitments.
Hossam Hassan has selected for defense Mohamed Hani, Tarek Alaa, Rami Rabia, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Hossam Abdelmajid, Hamdi Fathy, Ahmed Fattouh, and Karim Hafez.
The midfield list includes Marwan Ateya, Mohanad Lashin, Mahmoud Saber, Imam Ashour, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Ali Mahmoud, Ibrahim Adel, Mustafa Ziko, Haitham Hassan, and Mohamed Salah.
The list of forwards includes Omar Marmoush and Hamza Abdelkarim in the Pharaohs' upcoming training camp.
Ibrahim Hassan, the manager of the Egypt national team, has confirmed that the squad is missing several players due to injuries, including Trezeguet and Yasser Ibrahim, while Marwan Ateya will miss the match against Angola due to suspension.
The national team manager indicated that Ateya's ban is due to the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 held in Morocco, after he was suspended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for two matches.
Marwan Ateya's suspension means he will miss the match against Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations third-place playoff.
Egypt's national team will begin their training camp tomorrow in the National Teams Center in 6th of October City ahead of their match against Angola in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at Cairo Stadium on September 25 at 10 PM.
The Pharaohs will head to South Sudan on September 27, preparing for their second round match against the hosts on the 29th of the same month, at 3 PM.
The Egyptian national team returns to Cairo on September 30 to begin preparations for the friendly match against South Africa, which is set to take place at Cairo Stadium on October 4 at 9 PM.
