Long Asian suspension awaits Summerville

Al-Hilal face a setback as the Dutchman Crysencio Summerville is at risk of a suspension of up to 3 matches in the AFC Champions League Elite due to his red card against Al-Gharafa.

The red card was shown during the match between Al-Hilal and Al-Gharafa, which was decided by the leader with a score of 2-1, in the first round of the league stage of the AFC Champions League Elite.

AFC regulations state that Crysencio Summerville could be suspended for between two to three matches due to the classification of the incident as 'improper conduct'.

The same applies to Algeria's Ismaël Bennacer, a player for Al-Gharafa, who was sent off during the same incidents, leaving both teams to finish the match with ten players.

The crisis began in the 32nd minute when Abdul Rehman of Al-Gharafa clashed off the ball with Crysencio Summerville, before the Al-Hilal winger retaliated by pushing him off the pitch.

Tension escalated after Ismaël Bennacer intervened, pulling Crysencio Summerville by his hair, leading to a brawl involving several players from both teams on the pitch and in the dugouts.

The incident resulted in a red card being shown to Crysencio Summerville, followed by Ben Nasser, amid a tense atmosphere, before the match continued with one player missing from each team.

Al-Hilal are preparing to face Al-Sadd in the second round of the league stage on October 13. This match will see Crysencio Summerville absent if his suspension is confirmed.

In contrast, Al-Gharafa will host Iranian team Esteghlal on October 12 in the second round of the AFC Champions League Elite.

Al-Hilal are awaiting the final decision regarding the suspension length for Crysencio Summerville, after the events of the match against Al-Gharafa put him at risk of missing more than one game in his AFC Champions League Elite campaign.
