RB Leipzig thrash Hamburg 5-0 and celebrate Nkunku's return to scoring

RB Leipzig thrashed Hamburg 5-0 at home on Sunday at the Red Bull Arena, in the third round of the Bundesliga, to secure their second victory in the competition and regain their balance after losing to SV Werder Bremen and then suffering a heavy defeat against Como with a score of 4-1 in the UEFA Champions League.

Teddy Jam Gomes opened the scoring for RB Leipzig in the 17th minute, before Antonio Nusa added the second goal in the 28th minute, leaving the hosts leading 2-0 at half-time.

RB Leipzig continued to apply pressure in the second half, with Willi Orbán scoring the third goal in the 72nd minute.

Christopher Nkunku's return to the spotlight was the highlight of the match, as he came off the bench to score the fourth goal in the 74th minute, marking his first goal for RB Leipzig since returning to the German club on loan from Milan. Antonio Nusa assisted Nkunku's goal after the Norwegian international delivered an impressive performance, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

Rômulo José Cardoso da Cruz capped off RB Leipzig's five-goal haul in the 77th minute, securing a resounding 5-0 victory. With this result, Hamburg suffered their second 0-5 defeat in a week, having fallen to the same scoreline against 1.FSV Mainz 05 in the previous round, leaving them without a single goal scored in their first three matches, compared to 12 goals conceded.

The victory serves as an important boost for coach Martin Demichelis, who needed a reaction after defeats against Werder Bremen and Como. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig also achieved their seventh consecutive home win in the Bundesliga, setting a new club record.
