Zabiri leads Racing Santander to defeat Alavés with a brace

Racing Santander secured their second victory of the season in La Liga, defeating Alavés 2-1 today, Saturday, in the fifth round, handing the visitors their first defeat of the season and preventing them from temporarily taking the top spot in the standings.

Racing started the match strongly, but Alavés managed to absorb the pressure and gradually impose their rhythm before opening the scoring in the 17th minute through Kouski, taking advantage of a rebound inside the penalty area after Agirrezabala saved Ángel Pérez's shot.

The home side did not give up and managed to equalize before the end of the first half, as Yasser Zabiri took advantage of a precise pass from Iñigo Vicente, breaking through to goalkeeper Severa and scoring the equalizer in the 38th minute.

In the second half, Racing continued to apply pressure and Zabiri succeeded in breaking through Alavés' defense again, after taking advantage of a pass from Jorge Salinas following a new move from Iñigo Vicente, to outsmart Valentini and score the second goal in the 47th minute.

The Moroccan forward, aged 21 and on loan at Racing from Rennes, has increased his tally to five goals in the league this season, having scored a hat-trick against Elche in the third round, continuing his impressive form and leading his team to a valuable victory against Alavés.
