Simeone: We achieved the win we wanted and needed, and this is what I liked

Diego Simeone, the head coach of Atlético, has emphasized the importance of the victory over Deportivo Alavés, noting that his team secured the points they needed. He also praised the players' reaction and their determination to achieve victory until the final minutes.

Speaking about scoring two goals from defenders and the importance of contributions from all players in the attacking phase, Simeone said: "It is always important for the goal to come from anywhere, but the most important thing is that it comes. Away from the goals, the team tried and performed well, creating chances. We saw that a 1-1 result was not enough; Alavés defends well, and as time went on, we continued to try."

Regarding the importance of the victory, Atlético's coach explained: "Yes, when things are going well, you get closer to winning, but that doesn't always happen, and regardless of the fact that the penalty was correct, we had to recover from that situation. We are managing the players' participation so they can continue to provide positive things for the team."

Speaking about what he liked most in the match, Simeone said: "I liked the players' reaction, because they pushed for the win, it wouldn't have been different if it had ended in a draw, but winning gives us greater value."

Speaking about achieving their fourth consecutive win and whether the team has reached its peak, he said: "I still think the same way, we are a team in construction, and there are players adapting to Atlético to leave their mark in its history. Playing for Atlético requires a certain level, while leaving a mark in the club's history requires another level."

Speaking about the win over Alavés and whether he remembers previous easy victories his team achieved at the same stadium, Simeone concluded his remarks by saying: "I don't remember many matches that we won here easily; today the team played with a clear desire to attack, and things went well."
