The Greek player suffered an injury on Saturday, August 29, 2026, during Dortmund's match against Hamburg in the first round of the Bundesliga, after twisting his left knee following a challenge in midfield.

Professor Dr. Thore Zantop has successfully performed the surgery, while Konstantelias is expected to be sidelined for several months. He will begin the recovery and rehabilitation phase soon in preparation for his return to training and matches.
