Kovac: Dortmund deserved to win against Frankfurt after tough days

Niko Kovač, Borussia Dortmund's manager, confirmed that his team deserved to win against Eintracht Frankfurt by a goal to nil in the Bundesliga, pointing out the importance of the victory after a series of three tough away matches.

Kovac said after the match: "I think we had to put in a lot of effort today, after the intense days we had, against a very good Eintracht team. I think we were good during the first 20 or 25 minutes of the first half, but Frankfurt performed much better than us after that."

Dortmund's coach said: "In the second half, we managed to increase the pressure, and we didn't allow the opponent anything, and in the end, we deserved the win and left the pitch victorious."

He added: "It was important for me that we win against a strong team that plays football well like Eintracht, after the three tough matches we had away from home. We will benefit from this victory, and we hope to be able to repeat that in the coming days."

The victory came thanks to a goal from Maximilian Philipp in the second half, following an assist from Jude Bellingham, which granted Dortmund three valuable points that temporarily put them at the top of the Bundesliga, awaiting Bayern Munich's match against SC Freiburg.
