Spanish star Lamine Yamal, of FC Barcelona, has been awarded the Kopa Trophy for the best young player under 21 for the season, during the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, making it his third consecutive win.
According to the French site "Foot Mercato", the Kopa Trophy was the first award presented during the ceremony, featuring Lamine Yamal, his Barcelona teammate Pau Cubarsi, alongside Yan Diomande, Lennart Karl, and Zaire Emery.
After receiving the award, Yamal expressed his happiness at the win but noted that Kubarsi also deserved to win it, praising the levels his teammate has been showing for years.
The FC Barcelona star said: "It is an honor for me to be here, I wished for Kubarcy to be here as well, he deserves the award too, and he has been performing well for years. I am very happy, and I wished the award would go to Kubarcy."
