Al-Kholood turn the tables on Al-Shabab with thrilling brace in Saudi Pro League
Al-Kholood turned around their deficit against Al-Shabab to claim a thrilling 2-1 victory in the match held on Wednesday evening, as part of the sixth round of the Saudi Pro League.
Al-Shabab surprised their opponent with an early goal in the 6th minute, as Roger Martínez found the net with a right-footed shot from the left side inside the six-yard box.
Al-Kholood quickly responded with their attacking attempts, and Abdulrahman Al-Dosari nearly equalized in the 19th minute, but the Al-Shabab goalkeeper saved his shot from outside the penalty area.
Al-Kholood equalised in the 30th minute through Eker Cortaharina, who took advantage of an opportunity inside the penalty area and shot with his left foot from close range, bringing the match back to square one.
Just before the break, Al-Kholood came close to taking the lead when Seydouba Cissé unleashed a left-footed shot from outside the area in the 39th minute, but it went over the crossbar.
With the start of the second half, Al-Kholood continued to apply pressure, and the Al-Shabab goalkeeper saved a shot from Ramzi Soulan in the 49th minute, after a cross sent by Shaquille Pinas from the right side.
Mohamed Hassine missed another chance for Al-Kholood in the 68th minute, as he shot with his right foot from inside the right side of the penalty area, but the net of Al-Shabab remained unshaken.
Abdulrahman Al-Dosari snatched the winning goal for Al-Kholood in the 87th minute, firing a right-footed shot from the center of the penalty area, giving his team three precious points.
Al-Kholood have increased their tally to 12 points, moving up to 6th place in the Saudi Pro League, while Al-Shabab's points remain at 3 in 16th place.
Al-Kholood's victory gives the team a strong boost in the race for the table, having successfully overcome a difficult start to the match and turning their deficit into a valuable win in the closing minutes.
