Diriyah snatches Barcelona's Croatian talent in promising deal
Al-Dhariyah has signed young Croatian talent Lovro Šilvi from FC Barcelona's B team, in a deal aimed at supporting their new project.
Shelvey is 19 years old and caught attention during his time at the La Masia academy, which is one of the most prominent talent development schools in world football.
The Croatian player has left FC Barcelona despite interest from several clubs, choosing to embark on a new experience with Al-Dhariyah in the Saudi Pro League.
Shelvy is considered one of the rising names in Croatian football, having previously represented his country's under-18 and under-19 teams during his international career.
The player aims to continue his development during this new phase, hoping to eventually reach the senior Croatian national team after proving himself with youth national teams.
Diriyah's signing of Shelvey comes as part of the club's moves to build a competitive squad, especially as the team embarks on its first season in the Saudi Pro League following its promotion to the top flight.
Diriyah is betting on young talents as part of its sports project, aiming to steer clear of danger zones and achieve a stronger presence during the current season's competitions.
