Cristian Tello announces retirement from football at age 35

Spanish winger Cristian Tello, a former player for FC Barcelona and Real Betis, has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 35, through a message posted on his social media accounts.

Tilo has concluded his career after 512 professional matches, scoring 91 goals and providing 71 assists. He had experiences in six different countries, having worn the shirts of prominent clubs such as FC Barcelona, Porto, Fiorentina, Real Betis, Los Angeles FC, and Al-Fateh and Al-Orobah in Saudi Arabia, before his final stint with Palm City in the UAE.

Tello has progressed through La Masia and shone with FC Barcelona's first team, winning LaLiga and the Copa del Rey. He also won the Copa del Rey with Real Betis in 2022 and the MLS Cup with Los Angeles FC in the same year.

On the international stage, Tilo has played one match with the Spain national team, as well as participating in the Olympic Games London 2012. He won the UEFA European Under-21 Championship with Spain in 2013.

Tello stated in his farewell message that the time has come to end his career, affirming that "football has given me everything," while expressing pride in what he has accomplished and thanking everyone who accompanied and supported him throughout his career.
