Mahmoud Marei, Pyramids FC defender, suffered a head injury after a clash with a Gor Mahia player during the match between the two teams in the CAF Champions League.

The coaching staff of Pyramids FC, led by coach Rulani Mokwena, substituted player Eyad El Askalany for his injured teammate Mahmoud Marei in the 20th minute of the match.

Pyramids FC have announced that player Mahmoud Marei has been taken to hospital immediately, based on a decision from the club's medical chief Mustafa El Moneiry, to undergo several urgent tests and scans on his head to ensure his condition following the injury he sustained.
