Chelsea move for Wijnaldum after Lamine Camara deal fails

Chelsea are targeting a move for Dutch midfielder Jorginho Wijnaldum on a free transfer after failing in their recent attempt to sign Senegalese Lamine Camara from AS Monaco.

According to journalist Santi Ona, Chelsea have already opened communication channels with Wijnaldum in recent hours, as the team needs to strengthen their midfield following Enzo Fernández's departure to Manchester City.

Wijnaldum has become a free agent after leaving Al-Ettifaq, which allows Chelsea to sign him despite the summer transfer window closing, as he is not tied to any club.

This move comes after the collapse of the Camara deal at the last moment, as AS Monaco backed out of completing the player's transfer to Chelsea, leaving the London club without the replacement they were targeting to compensate for Enzo Fernández's departure.
