Amrabat Reveals Ajax Transfer Details and Readiness to Compete

Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat has revealed new details regarding his transfer to Ajax Amsterdam, explaining that his communication with the club's sporting director, Jordi Cruyff, began last April and continued over the past months, culminating in the completion of his move to the team.

Amrabat explained that Cruyff was clear with him from the start of negotiations about the role he wants him to play within the team, confirming that he sees him as a key player in the number six position. This was considered by the Moroccan international as a positive indication of the club's commitment to securing his services.

Amrabat stated: "From day one, he said that I am the player number six he wants... My position and style of play, and this is naturally encouraging for a player... After that, the coach also contacted me directly, and that was very positive, that the technical director wants you, and that the coach wants you."

He added: "It was very clear to me that the people here really wanted me, and that is very important to me... because I am a loyal person, and I wanted to repay that trust."

The new Ajax player spoke about the tasks awaiting him in the team's midfield, emphasizing his full awareness of what is required of him in his position. He stated: "I know what is expected of me in my position. I need to ensure the team's cohesion, help the players around me perform better, and assist them in showcasing their best."

Amrabat stressed the importance of controlling the rhythm of the game and achieving balance on the field, explaining: "You have to understand what needs to be accelerated and what needs to be slowed down, and ensure balance... This is one of the most important characteristics of a number six player, and I will try to do that."

On a physical level, the Moroccan international confirmed that he is ready to participate in matches, having undergone more than a week of intensive training aimed at reaching his best possible physical condition.

He stated: "I have spent a week training intensively to ensure I am in the best physical condition. I believe I am physically ready, and I am very eager to play. So yes, I am ready."

Sofyan Amrabat has officially signed a contract to join Ajax Amsterdam, which will run until the end of June 2028, in a free transfer deal following the termination of his contract with Turkish club Fenerbahçe.
