Dortmund Kicks Off Bundesliga with 2-0 Win Over Hamburg

Borussia Dortmund began their new season in the Bundesliga with a well-deserved victory, defeating visitors Hamburg 2-0, confirming the runners-up's readiness to compete early on.

Dortmund's victory under coach Niko Kovac came just one day after Bayern Munich's powerful launch, who thrashed Stuttgart 5-1.

The home side imposed their superiority from the first minutes, translating their control into an early goal scored by Serhou Guirassy in the 9th minute. New signing Giannis Konstantelias doubled the lead with a second goal in the first minute of stoppage time in the first half.

Dortmund delivered a powerful first half, being the more dominant and dangerous side, and successfully ended it with a comfortable advantage of two goals to none.

Constantinou's joy at his first appearance was short-lived, as the player, who joined from PAOK Salonika for around €26 million according to reports, suffered an injury during the second half that forced him to leave the pitch.

Dortmund's task became tougher in the closing minutes after the team was forced to continue the match with ten players following the dismissal of Samuely Ignacio in the 77th minute, just three minutes after he entered the pitch, due to a violent foul.

Despite being a man down, Dortmund maintained their lead until the final whistle, securing a 2-0 victory and putting their first three points on the board as they begin their Bundesliga campaign.
