Real Sociedad in Battle with Dortmund for Hector Fort
Hector Fort, the 20-year-old full-back of Barcelona, continues to search for a new destination in the final days of the summer transfer market, as he has fallen out of favor with coach Hans Flick and has been training away from the group for several weeks.
According to Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", Borussia Dortmund is currently leading the race to sign Fort, after the player expressed his willingness to move to the German league, while the German club is close to reaching an agreement on the deal.
Meanwhile, Real Sociedad has entered the competition strongly, as journalist Matteo Morito revealed days ago that the Basque club is interested in the young full-back, before confirming that Real Sociedad officials are looking for a suitable arrangement to complete the signing.
Real Sociedad's move comes as Fort expresses a desire to leave Barcelona and join a team where he can showcase his abilities, having fallen out of Hansi Flick's plans for the new season.
Barcelona values Hector Fort at around €15 to €20 million, but the transfer fee may drop if the Catalan club retains half of the player's rights or includes a buy-back option for the future.
Real Sociedad is intensifying its attempts to finalize the transfer, but it is also aware of the strong competition from Borussia Dortmund, which remains the top team currently in the race for Hector Fort's services.
